Latvian MIcrobiome project
The aim of the project is to characterize the microbiome of the Latvian population, in addition to determining how the diet and lifestyle habits of the population affect the composition of the intestinal microbiome, but the composition of the microbiome – human health. The data obtained in the Latvian Microbiome project will significantly contribute to the study of the microbiome, helping scientists to understand what the microbiome is typical for the Latvian population and how to potentially change the composition of the microbiome to reduce related diseases and health problems, predict drug efficacy and side effects. All the participants of the project are recruited in the national biobank – Genome database of Latvian population (LGDB), ensuring high quality standards for sample and data collection procedures.
